El Picacho

El Picacho is a famous landmark for anyone who’s ever visited the city of Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras. This mountain sits north of the city affording fantastic views of the entire valley which includes Tegucigalpa and Comayaguela.  The mountain can be seen from most places in the city and is a good way to get your bearings when in the city. The city lies at about 1,000m above sea level with El Picacho another 250m above it. It is perhaps most well known for its statue of Christ which sits just below the summit of the mountain and looks south over the city’s central district. Image Map
